The Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing all maintenance and engineering operations within the property, ensuring safety, efficiency, and functionality of all systems and facilities. This role manages a team of maintenance professionals to deliver high-quality preventive and corrective maintenance, while controlling costs and optimizing operational performance. The Chief Engineer ensures all equipment, plant rooms, and building systems are properly maintained in compliance with hotel standards, safety regulations, and budget guidelines.
Job Description

- Manage and supervise the daily operations of the maintenance team, ensuring efficient performance and adherence to hotel standards.
- Plan, schedule, and oversee routine, preventive, and emergency maintenance for all interior and exterior facilities within budget limits.
- Lead and coordinate the maintenance team in areas such as budgeting, asset management, inventory control, and personnel development.
- Represent the Maintenance Department in daily HOD (Head of Department) meetings and participate in departmental briefings and shift line-ups.
- Prioritize and assign maintenance tasks, ensuring timely and accurate completion of work orders and special projects.

- Respond promptly to guests’ maintenance requests, ensuring courteous, professional, and efficient service.
- Maintain proper documentation for all plant, machinery, and equipment, including repair and service records.
- Ensure adequate stock levels of materials, tools, and equipment are maintained and that all storage areas are clean, safe, and organized.
- Take responsibility for the cleanliness and safety aspects of all plant, mechanical, electrical equipment rooms.
- Oversee cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency of mechanical, electrical, and plant rooms.
- Attend facility management and property meetings; communicate key updates to the maintenance team through regular briefings.
- Ensure the correct and safe use of equipment, ensuring periodic servicing and maintenance.
- Conduct regular property inspections (daily, weekly, and monthly) and ensure all standards and safety codes are met.
- Ensure property, grounds, physical plant and work areas are maintained to standard and that all safety equipment and condition are coded.
- Control departmental budgets, supplies, and inventory levels in line with property requirements.
- Provide management with reports on maintenance performance and inspection results.
- Develop and implement emergency response procedures and energy conservation programs to reduce operating costs.
- Ensure all maintenance staff wear proper uniforms, maintain grooming standards, and uphold a professional appearance.
- Take full responsibility for the department’s service quality, fiscal goals, and day-to-day operations, including short-term and long-term planning.
- Enhance the maintenance team’s effectiveness through a balanced approach that supports operations, guest experience, and both staff and owner satisfaction.
Requirement

- Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma, or College Degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering.
- Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience in hotel engineering operations.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in maintenance, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role within the hotel engineering department.
- In-depth understanding of building management systems and engineering practices, with a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
- Willingness and ability to work at Ngwe Saung Beach, Ayeyarwady Division.
